Feeling Safe Now: Integrating Mind and Body

My integrative approach to anxiety focuses on establishing a sense of emotional, physical, and psychological safety in the present moment. Anxiety often pulls you into cycles of fear, and its focused on the past or future.

Anxiety doesn't just live in your thoughts, but also in your emotions and bodily sensations, especially when it’s rooted in past trauma. Therapy helps you to recognize that your nervous system holds memories and responses that can trigger anxiety—even when you’re safe in the present.

Through gentle, body-focused techniques, you can reconnect with physical sensations and learn to regulate your nervous system. By tuning into your breath, posture, and bodily sensations, you can begin to release stored tension and restore a sense of safety.

I draw on a range of evidence-based and experiential modalities to support this integration, including:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): to explore and reframe unhelpful thought patterns contributing to anxiety.
  • Attachment theory: to understand how early relationships may be influencing current fears, connection styles, and emotional regulation.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS): to help you explore and heal the different 'parts' of yourself—especially those that may be holding anxiety, shame, or protective roles.
  • Somatic therapy: to tune into your body's wisdom and release anxiety held in the nervous system.
  • Person-Centred Therapy: to provide a non-judgmental, empathic relationship where you feel truly seen and accepted.

If anxiety has been wearing you down, know that you don’t have to face it by yourself. I’m here to support you with a gentle, whole-person approach.

Anxiety doesn’t have to control your life. When you’re ready, reach out—together, we’ll find calm, strength, and healing.

Understanding Anxiety: It's Not Just "Overthinking"

One of the biggest myths about anxiety is that it’s simply “overthinking” or something you should be able to control with willpower. In reality, anxiety is a whole-body experience that often has deep emotional and nervous system roots—it's not just in your head. Anxiety can make you feel you you need urgent help, and many people have even went to a doctor or emergency services in fear they were having a heart attack or a serious medical condition. The truth is, anxiety is scary and overwhelming.

What I wish everyone knew is that anxiety is often a sign that your system is doing its best to keep you safe, based on past experiences—even if those strategies no longer serve you today.

Therapy helps by creating a safe, non-judgmental space to explore where your anxiety comes from and how it shows up in your thoughts, emotions, body, and relationships.
